What does Coin Says Hi do — and what can't it do?
Coin Says Hi turns a front coin photo — plus an optional reverse photo and short note — into a provisional reading: a status, a possible match, visible clues, alternatives, historical context and checks to make next. It cannot authenticate a coin, grade it, assess its condition or rarity, or give a market value. The About page describes the tool and its limits.
Why does a reading say “possible match” or “uncertain”?
Every reading is labeled with one of four statuses — Possible match, Uncertain reading, More detail needed or Not a coin — because a photo shows only part of the evidence. A possible match is a visual lead to compare with independent catalogues, never a confirmed identification. The Methodology page explains what each status means.
Which photos work best?
A sharp, evenly lit photo that keeps the whole coin and its rim in frame gives a reading the most to work with, and a reverse photo adds evidence. JPG, PNG and WebP photos up to 20 MB each are accepted — a HEIC photo needs exporting as JPEG first. The photo guide and the upload page's photo examples show what to aim for.
What happens to my photo and note when I submit?
Only when you select Continue to analysis are your front photo, optional reverse photo and optional note sent through this site's Worker to Qomza's gateway, along with your Cloudflare connecting IP. The gateway keeps each lookup's submitted details, its result and related service information in its records until the operator removes them. The Privacy page lists the details.
Does Coin Says Hi cost anything?
No. The browser tool is free, with no accounts and no charge per reading.
Why did my upload or reading fail?
The site accepts JPG, PNG and WebP photos up to 20 MB each and an optional note of up to 600 characters. A reading stops after about 45 seconds, and a best-effort limit of about 10 readings per 60 seconds applies per connecting IP address in each Cloudflare location — the error message says when to retry. Unsupported formats such as HEIC, an empty file, a dropped connection or a busy analysis service can also interrupt a reading. Your selected photos stay in the page, so fix the cause and submit again.
Can I use a result as professional advice or certification?
No. A reading is a starting point for your own comparison — not authentication, grading, a condition assessment, a rarity determination or a valuation. For a purchase, sale, insurance or estate decision, ask a qualified numismatic professional; the value guide explains how to prepare.
How do I report a wrong result or a guide error?
Follow the report a problem steps below: email the page address and what seems wrong. Reports are read, and guides are corrected when an error is confirmed.
Are there mobile apps?
Not yet. The iOS and Android apps are in development, and App Store and Google Play links will appear on this site after publication.

To help us find the issue, include:
- the page address you were on — a reading exists only in your page's memory, so describe the heading, status and possible match it showed
- what seemed wrong, and what you expected instead
- any request identifier shown in an error message
Please avoid including personal information, passwords, payment details or other secrets in a report. We read every report and correct guide pages when an error is confirmed — a corrected page's “Updated” date changes.
